Brian Angus will be giving technical talks on Saturday and Sunday on the 900 series engines and the Espriit. He'll also be on the Club Lotus stand on both days to answer any questions as will Brian Buckland who'll also be hosting tech talks on the Elan and twin cam engine. This is in addition to the wide range of technical advice available on the stands from the likes of Steve Fulcher, Option I Sportscars, Spyder Engineering, Hangar 111, Chris Neil, PNM, Nitron, and CTM Engineering to mention a few.

Lotus News - Evora S for the Mercury Phoenix Trust - Another One Bites The Dust CALLING ALL GIRLS and boys - September 5th will see the Savoy Hotel play host to a very special celebration, the 65th birthday of THE HERO, the late, great Freddie Mercury.
DEAR FRIENDS of Freddie will unite in GOOD COMPANY at Freddie’s FLASH birthday bash which is set to be ‘a unique night of comedy and rock and roll’ as the climax to this year’s Freddie For A Day. The highlight of the night will be an auction to raise funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, the HIV AIDS charity set-up in his honour by band mates Brian May, Roger Taylor and Queen manager Jim Beach after the singer’s death in 1991.

Club News & Events - LoTRDC Race Preview Donington 13th and 14th August 2011 Ken Savage heads to Donington next weekend (13/14 August) keen to build on his lead at the top of the Lotus Cup UK Championship table. The Production class driver, who is also competing with great success in the Elise Trophy this year, has scored several class victories and leads Steve Quick by 11 points at the halfway stage of the season. With last year’s Elise Trophy round at the East Midlands circuit cancelled whilst it awaited refurbishment, only Savage has race experience here in a Lotus and will be aiming to use this to his advantage.

Formula 1 - LRGP Chinese GP 2011 - FP3 and Qualifying A dramatic qualifying session saw Vitaly qualify in P10 and Nick in P16, after the Russian’s car lost power and halted what could have been a very strong session for the team.
• Vitaly’s car was halted when the air supply to the engine was cut off, causing the engine to lose power. At the moment we believe there is no reason to change the engine.
• Both Nick and Vitaly used one set of hard and soft tyres in Q1. Nick used two sets of softs in Q2, while Vitaly used one set.

Formula 1 - Team Lotus confirms Razia, Valsecchi and Teixeira in 2011 driver line-up Team Lotus has today confirmed that Luiz Razia and Davide Valsecchi will be combining their 2011 GP2 Team AirAsia commitments with official roles in Team Lotus, with Luiz Razia as Third Driver and Davide Valsecchi as Test Driver. Ricardo Teixeira also joins as a second Test Driver to continue his long-term development program with the team.
Luiz and Davide will be taking part in a number of Friday practice sessions at selected 2011 Grands Prix and Team Lotus is also working on a number of other exciting driver-related projects which will be announced in due course.

Lotus News - Lotus Engineering Unveils Supercharged Production Range Extender The new production Range Extender that has been designed by Lotus Engineering together with Fagor Ederlan will be exhibited at the 81st International Motor Show in Geneva.
The production Lotus Range Extender is an extremely compact, lightweight, low-cost engine and generator, designed specifically for hybrid electric vehicles. The initial concept engine was fitted to the Jaguar Limo Green research vehicle and this new version has been redesigned by Lotus Engineering and Fagor Ederlan to optimise performance and develop the engine for series production.
Lotus News - Concept Lotus Bespoke - Mansory Evora The Evora customised in collaboration with Mansory is an “Individualisation Concept Car”. It showcases the scope of future Lotus customisation projects and will act as a test-bed for a new individualisation strategy by Lotus. This strategy will result in a cutomisation programme that is largely based on customer feedback and will reflect our new market-driven approach of developing and designing cars.

Lotus News - Lotus Elise Club Racer - Maximum Fun, Minimum Collateral - Geneva Motorshow 2011 Anyone harbouring under the misapprehension that Lotus might be moving away from performance through lightweight only needs to take a quick ride in the new 1.6 Lotus Elise Club Racer to know that’s definitely not the case. The bright engineers at Lotus put even the lightest of Lotus’ modern cars on a diet and managed to shed a further 24kg.
Formula 1 - LRGP Barcelona Testing Day One Nick and Vitaly got behind the wheel of the R31 today in Barcelona. Despite a problem with the KERS, which took most of the day to solve and prevented the team from completing its scheduled programme, both drivers managed some useful pit stops practice.

Club News & Events - A Tribute to Ron Hickman It’s our sad duty to report that Ron Hickman died in a Jersey hospital on Thursday morning, 17th February. He was 78 and had been unwell since suffering a fall last autumn and his health sadly deteriorated in recent weeks.
Ron will probably be best known to Lotus enthusiasts as the man who created the legendary Elan but he also played a key role in designing the revolutionary Type 14 Elite. The Elite’s glassfibre monocoque was a groundbreaking piece of design and established Lotus Cars as manufacturers of world beating sports racing cars.

Formula 1 - Valencia Test, Day 3: LRGP fastest in Valencia What we learned today:
- The team measured the downforce produced by the car with some aero runs this morning. This involves running the car at constant speed on the straight. Everything ties up well with the wind tunnel figures.
- Initial set-up work was very productive and the team found some good directions.
Formula 1 - T128 Jarno Trulli - Test Day 3 Valencia JARNO TRULLI: "It has been a very positive first day, despite the fact we deliberately didn't set any meaningful laptimes as the car is missing a few parts that will be with us tomorrow. Nevertheless, the car feels great - it has good grip and today we were able to concentrate on carrying out work on the systems which we were going to have to do at some point anyway. Now we can concentrate on building up the performance levels tomorrow and in the next tests, so while it's a shame I couldn't have a full taste of the car, it was still a very positive first day in the new car."

Formula 1 - T128-01 Heikki Kovalainen - Test Day 2 Valencia HEIKKI KOVALAINEN: “Despite the limited running today the car felt fantastic. It immediately felt like it was much better balanced than last year’s car and the grip level felt ok, but it’s a bit hard to make any real judgements as we weren’t going for performance. Today was basically our shakedown and we managed to get through most of the checks we’d aimed to – it wasn’t about pushing today, it was about checking the systems and making sure the new engine, gearbox and hydraulics are all working as we want them to. The whole team has had a very busy winter and everybody has been working flat out to make sure we could be at the first test of the season which wasn’t the case last year. This morning we were the first car out on track and that’s been the story all winter – we’ve hit all our targets and it was the same today.”

Lotus’ F1 inspired customer race car, the Type 125, had its first official run out at the Italian track earlier this week as F1 legend Jean Alesi and Lotus factory driver James Rossiter completed over 200 kilometres during the two day test.

Lotus News - Team Elise Trophy Complete the Dubai 24 Hour Race With the smallest budget, lightest and least powerful car on the grid, Team Elise Trophy finished in 46th place out of 84 starters and most importantly saw the chequered flag in the Dubai 24 Hours this weekend. The road legal 160bhp car of 2000 vintage is a regular in the club motorsport scene, having been driven by the likes of Martin Donnelly, Andy Green and Jake Humphrey.

This is because the Elise Trophy race meeting at Donington was recently changed from 20/21 August to the weekend of 13/14 August and it therefore makes sense to similarly move the show forward one week.

Classic Team Lotus - Jim Clark Memorial Fund Donations Jim Clark lost his life on 7th April 1968 in a Formula 2 race at Hockenheim when his car left the road and struck a tree alongside the track. Jim was Lotus' greatest driver; he won 25 Grand Prix between 1962 and 1968, was World Champion in 1963 and 1965 and won the Indianapolis 500 in 1965 as well as numerous sports and saloon car races. Many still regard Jimmy as the best racing driver the sport has seen.
There has been a rudimentary memorial at the present day Hockenheim circuit established ...
