With the smallest budget, lightest and least powerful car on the grid, Team Elise Trophy finished in 46th place out of 84 starters and most importantly saw the chequered flag in the Dubai 24 Hours this weekend.

The road legal 160bhp car of 2000 vintage is a regular in the club motorsport scene, having been driven by the likes of Martin Donnelly, Andy Green and Jake Humphrey.

Proving the reliability of the marque, the car required relatively minor servicing to keep it on track, and only needed two sets of tyres as it raced hard to the end.  Drivers James Knight, Simon Phillips, Ken Savage and Pete Storey coped admirably on their round-the-clock racing debut.

They were supported by a contingent from the Elise Trophy plus the crew of the Royal Navy's HMS Cumberland which was docked in Dubai, some of whom enjoyed passenger laps around the circuit earlier in the week.

With the aim of completing the distance, fifth in class was a welcome surprise to the team and the car lives to fight another season, however this challenge will be tough to beat!
