Colin Chapman driving the Team Lotus Type 49 Formula 1 car, illustrating Lotus's For The Drivers founding philosophy

Focus 2030: the full Lotus strategy deck (May 2026)

Editor’s note: alongside the embargoed press release published earlier today, Lotus Cars has made available the full Focus 2030 strategy presentation – a 16-slide deck titled “An Updated Roadmap”, dated May 2026. We reproduce it in full below as a primary-source record for the Club Lotus archive.

The Deck in One Paragraph

Where the press release set out the headline announcements – Type 135 hybrid-V8 supercar for 2028, Emira continuity at Hethel, X-Hybrid Eletre X for European customers in Q4 2026, and a 30,000-unit annual sales target – the strategy deck expands the case. It opens with a “For The Drivers” heritage frame anchored in Colin Chapman and the Type 49, traces 78 years of Lotus innovation from the 1971 Type 56B turbine F1 car to the 2019 Evija EV hypercar, sets out the four-pillar strategy in plain terms, and closes with the product roadmap to 2030 and the regional commercial strategy. The Type 135 teaser image appears on slide 11 with the simple caption “Watch this space.”

What’s Next from Club Lotus

Our editorial response – covering the heritage threads (Chapman, the Type 49, the Esprit V8 lineage), the open question of where the Type 135 will actually be built, and what Focus 2030 signals for owners of both classic and modern Lotus cars – will follow in the next edition of Club Lotus News and on this site.

The Emira update Lotus has promised “in the coming weeks” – billed as the most powerful and lightest Emira ever built – will be covered separately when announced.
