Lotus 72: Formula One Icon by Michael Oliver is a substantial Coterie Press study of one of the most important and successful racing cars in Formula One history.
This revised and reworked second edition was released ahead of the 2022 “All the 72s” event at Hethel and includes updated histories of the ten Lotus Type 72 chassis built. The book follows the car from design and development through its long competition life, drawing on the memories of drivers, mechanics, team managers, rival drivers and designers. It also includes complete chassis histories and race records for each car.
Designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe, the wedge-shaped Lotus 72 was introduced on 01/04/1970 and went on to win the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships in 1970 and 1972, plus the Constructors’ Championship again in 1973. It continued winning races in 1974 and scoring points in 1975, driven by major names including Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, Ronnie Peterson and Jacky Ickx.
A key reference title for Lotus, Team Lotus, Formula One and historic motorsport collectors.
